Monthly Hairstyle Challenge -- Natural Hair Care for TEENS!! :D

Hey guys!! It's been forever since I've posted anything about my hair and what I'm doing to it. But I wanted to share with you what i have been doing for the past 3 months-- Monthly Hairstyles!! A monthly hairstyle is a hairstyle that you wear and maintain for a whole month. They prevent you from playing in your hair to much (like i do lol) and can help you maintain hair growth. So every month this winter thru spring I'm going to pick a versatile hairstyle that can be worn throughout the whole month. As of right now I'm rockin mini twist, and they are super cute!! I'll post a vid on how to do them as well as hairstyles you can do with them when you get tired of the style.

However you don't have to just wear mini-twists; these other hairstyles are great too (and
I'll try to post vids on them all :D)

- Braids (the smaller they are the longer they'll last, just don't make em too tiny lol)
- Cornrows (again the smaller the better)
- Flat Twists

Ok i know it's only like 3 options, but you can mix and match styles to create new hairstyles every month!
Comment and tell (or ask) me anything hair related that you would love for me talk about!

Quick & Easy- Face and Body Scrub

y

Nothings worse than having rough, oily skin. Nobody likes it, and if your a teen  like me, pimples turn up everywhere (even places where they shouldn't be). So today I'll share another benefit of having baking soda in your house.

Baking Soda Mild Face and Body scrub

What you will need:

-Baking Soda
-Facial Cleanser or Honey
-A Bowl and a Spoon (or you could just mix it in your hand ;D )

Directions:
Mix 3 parts (for one wash use 3 tsp) with 1 part of facial cleanser or honey (about 1 tsp) in your bowl or in your hand. Mix it up. You should have a thick paste, if not just add a little more baking soda. Now apply to a moist face in small circular motions.
CAUTION: Do Not rub to hard on your face, you will irritate your skin.
Rinse with water and apply a moisturizer or a thin oil, like Olive oil; just don't add a lot!

You should notice how clean and soft your skin feels.Exfoliating your skin removes the dead skin and dirty oils that clog your pores and trap dirt. Exfoliating helps your skin maintain its overall health. Do this every two days for healthy skin!

Take a step back from commercial shampoos and conditioners and try these homemade goodies

Baking Soda Shampoo

What You will need:
-  A bottle or a container that can fit and pour the mixture with ease
- Baking soda
- Water
- A spoon (if your using a container)

The basic recipes is a combination of 1 tablespoon of baking soda to 1 cup of water depending on how dirty, long, or curly your hair is you may have to tweak this recipe; but try the basic one first to see how it works on your hair.
Put baking soda and water in bottle and shake, if using a container mix with a spoon.
Dampen hair and apply BSS to your hair.
Pour onto scalp first and massage your scalp to lift up build-up (do this for about 2-3 mins)
Then clamp your hands on your hair to smooth and slide the BSS on your hair.
Remember this is not a commercial shampoo so it will not sud, but that does not mean that it's not cleaning your hair!
Rinse with warm-cool water then follow with a vinegar rinse (1/2 tbsp of vinegar to 1 cup of water)
The vinegar rinse is important don't skip!! it closes the cuticles of the hair shaft that open up due to the alkalinity of the baking soda.

Mayo and Avocado Deep Conditioner

What You will need:

- 1/2 cup of mayo
- 1/2 of a ripen (soft) avocado
- 1 tbsp of honey
- A blender * (for quick mixing)
- A bowl
- A fork ( if you don't have or want to use a blender)

In a bowl mash the avocado half and honey  first, making sure there aren't any avocado chunks.
Next mix in the mayo and whisk with a fork. FOR BLENDER: just put everything (avocado, honey, and mayo) in and blend until smooth!
Put on hair for 45 mins, if hair is extra dry leave in over night or for 3 hrs for maximum conditioning.
Rinse out of hair completely.

Health benefits of these two homemade hair products?
well for one thing they don't cost that much, and they're better for your hair than commercial products with silicones and detergents (shampoo). Likewise the BSS will help clarify your hair without stripping it of your hair's essential oils. As for the Mayo and Avocado conditioner, it's full of protein and oils that will nourish and strengthen your hair, all the things you need for maximum hair health!!
If you try these message me and let me know how it went!!

Anti Heat Fast!! New Year resolution

This year i planned to grow my hair. I want to have 6 more inches add to my hair's actual length (10-11 in) and i noticed that last year all my "protective" hairstyles involved heat! (blow drying, flat ironing, etc.) which is a NO NO , I know that now but last year i was unaware of all the damage i was doing to my natural hair! So this year i proposed to be ANTI-HEAT, and so far i noticed my curl pattern loosing up and i think my hair grew a 1/2 in. With all that said i will post vids nd such about my homemade conditioners ,protective styles and inspiration to all the Natural Teens out there lol

Until next time,
NTB xoxo
